INTERVIEW COACHING

Video, in-person, behavioural, competency-based, panel, group, formal, informal, first, second….HELP!

It's normal to be nervous or unsure of what to expect at an interview and many of us stumble as soon as someone says "Tell me about yourself."

I can help you to prepare by anticipating interview questions, practicing your responses, understanding interview etiquette and developing an action plan for any potential tricky moments.

Depending on the role and the industry, your interview experience can vary significantly.

Interviews in the public sector usually follow a strict template with little opportunity to deviate from the list of questions. You are also likely to encounter a panel of interviewers where some will be asking questions while the others listen to and rate your response against the Key Selection Criteria.

Interviews in the private sector are usually less formal, although not always, and allow for a more general discussion as well as asking a combination of behavioural and competency-based questions.

Received a video interview request? Many companies now skip the phone screening stage and instead ask you to film yourself responding to 2-3 selected questions within a set timeframe. This can be scary if you've never done it before but I can help you to nail it.

Once you know what to expect, there are some simple things you can do to prepare for an interview including crafting an 'elevator pitch' and developing a suite of responses to the questions they are most likely to ask.

If you've secured an interview and want to make sure you get it absolutely right, I can develop a Mock Interview tailored to the position you're applying for and provide extensive feedback about what you did well and what you could do to improve prior to the real-life interview.
